Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History
A special celebration of the human spirit is in store when the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History Presents Kwanzaa. Celebrated Dec. 26-31, observe Kwanzaa with friends and family and pay tribute to the rich cultural heritage it embodies. There will be a full week of activities, including candle lighting ceremonies, performances, dancing, storytelling, workshops, a marketplace, and more!

Community House
Filling a civilized setting with beautiful music, The Classical Brunch concert series makes a special gift. Performances include Kimberly Kaloyanides Kennedy, Yizhak Schotten, Úna Fionnuala O'Riordan and Katherine Collier, Violin, viola, cello and piano, Jan. 22, 2012; Chroma Piano Trio, including Nurit Pacht, Robert deMaine Andria Mayadas, Violin, cello and piano, Feb. 19, 2012; Hai-Xin Wu, Michael Klotz and Robert deMaine, Violin, viola and cello, March 25, 2012. Detroit Historical Museum - DHM
As a special “thank you” to the community for its support during these challenging economic times, the Detroit Historical Society is offering free admission to the Detroit Historical Museum this holiday season, as well as extended visitor hours. Those who discover our regions’ rich history may also see how Detroit and Michigan can play key roles in creating a prosperous future for the nation and world. The museum will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day from Monday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 31, courtesy of the Masco Corporation Foundation. Take a break from the hustle and bustle! Bring the entire family and experience a fun-filled, relaxing day – on us!

Detroit Institute of Arts
A membership to the Detroit Institute of Arts presents the splendor of the world’s cultural treasures. A membership at the Family-Plus level or higher includes four free tickets to the special exhibition, “Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus,” running through Feb. 12, 2012.

Detroit Public Library
With each $50 (or above) membership, the Detroit Public Library Friends Foundation offers two free tickets to the 68th annual E. Azalia Hackley Concert, Feb. 22, 2012, at 7 p.m. in The Friends Auditorium of the Main Library. The program features “In the Tradition,” a nine-piece orchestra performing a stimulating mix of African rhythms, jazz and funk. Tickets, when purchased alone, are $15 each. Detroit Public Television - DPTV
They’ve helped generations learn to count, read and care from their televised community. Now they’re on stage in real life. Detroit Public Television Presents “Sesame Street Live.” Get tickets to sing and dance with Elmo and all your favorite Sesame Street friends at Sesame Street Live at the Fox Theatre this February, or donate tickets to a local child in need.

Detroit Zoo
A Detroit Zoological Society membership provides a year’s supply of “Vitamin Z” with free admission to the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Zoo, free parking, discounts at Zoo gift shops and many other benefits and are priced from $48 to $175 (with $10 off all categories for Macomb, Oakland and Wayne county residents who can purchase up to four gift memberships at the discounted rate).

Edsel & Eleanor Ford House
There’s something special in the Gaulker Pointe gift shop including African Telephone Wire Baskets and bottles of Heron Hill Wine. There’s also plenty to do: Candlelight Stroll, Holiday Tea & Tour, Nutcracker Teas, Christmas Story Time and visit Santa’s Workshop in the estate’s South Cottage, inspired by the Santa’s Workshop that Henry and Clara Ford erected each year at their home, Fair Lane in Dearborn.

Howell Nature Center
Adopt-an-Animal at Howell Conference and Nature Center. For $65 your recipient will receive the individual story of one of HNC’s wildlife ambassadors, species information, a 5x7 photo, an adoption certificate, and a plush stuffed animal of your ambassador. You may adopt our Great Horned Owl, Virginia Opossum, Snowy Owl, Flying Squirrel, Porcupine or Bald Eagle. The proceeds from your Animal Adoption will help provide x-rays, surgeries, antibiotics, caging and food for the 2,300 animals brought in to their care each year.

Port Huron Museum
Discover the Mysteries of the Blue Waters and more with a membership in the Port Huron Museum. Membership includes free, unlimited admission to all three Port Huron Museum sites: The Carnegie Center, Huron Lightship and Thomas Edison Depot. Members also enjoy reduced rates for special exhibits and Feast of the Ste. Clair (May), a 10-percent discount on most items in the Museum stores, classes, excursions & special events. New members receive two guest passes for you to bring a guest to a museum site.
